From an up-and-coming producer, the Gian Luca Colombo 2022 Barolo N.I.C.B.A.R.R.B. reflects the perspective of a winemaker who also excels with Pinot Nero, a background that often translates into a deft touch with Nebbiolo. Produced from vineyards in Bricco Ambrogio, Roere di Santa Maria, Ravera and Bussia, the wine shows blackcurrant and dried cherry with hints of tarry spice, crushed granite and flint. There is both finesse and power here, with a bouquet of remarkable precision despite its darker aromatic register. This is a name to watch. Production is 8,000 bottles.
