The 2021 Barolo Perno is a real stunner. What a wine! Vibrant, focused and explosive, the Perno is seriously beautiful from start to finish. Bright acids and a firm spine give the wine its sense of proportion. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, graphite and dried flowers soar out of the glass. More than anything else, though, the 2021 is a wine of substance, structure and finesse. It’s a magnificent offering from this young estate that shows what can happen with a few years of experience and a top-flight vintage. This spent two years in cask, which is on the longer side for Giordano. 2027 - 2041
