The 2022 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione shows why this site is so highly regarded. Pliant and medium-bodied, the 2022 is a sensual beauty. Sweet red cherry fruit, white pepper, kirsch, mint and rose petal take shape in the glass. The 2022 doesn’t quite have all the inner perfume, sweetness and generosity of the very best years, but it comes a lot closer than I would have ever expected in this vintage, especially in a site planted mostly on sand. The long, sustained finish is exceptionally beautiful.
