Antoniolo er en familieejet vingård beliggende i Gattinara. Vingården har været i familiens eje 3 generationer, og de råder i dag over 14 ha. Vi har haft lejlighed til at smage flere af deres vine og årgange og har tilladt os foretage cherry picking af de mest spændende vine og årgange i forbindelse med RETRO kampagnen. Deres Gattinara er lavet på 100% nebbiolo.

The 2010 Gattinara San Francesco is the most accessible of the estate's three single-vineyard Gattinaras. Another intense, powerful wine, the San Francesco occasionally also show a more tender, welcoming side of its personality. Sweet tobacco, licorice and dried herbs all add nuance to the beautifully textured. There is a level of sweetness and openness to the San Francesco that the other wines don't offer, at least not today. 2017 - 2030

Antoniolo has turned out a stellar set of 2010s. The flagship Osso San Grato is magnificent, but readers should be thrilled to own any of these four wines. The straight Gattinara and the Osso San Grato are a bit more classically built in that there is minimal oak influence, while the Castelle and San Francesco are denser through the middle and perhaps slightly more modern-leaning in conception, but I do mean slightly. Antoniolo remains a reference point for what Nebbiolo in northern Piedmont is all about. I can't recommend these wines highly enough.
