Antoniolo er en familieejet vingård beliggende i Gattinara. Vingården har været i familiens eje 3 generationer, og de råder i dag over 14 ha. Vi har haft lejlighed til at smage flere af deres vine og årgange og har tilladt os foretage cherry picking af de mest spændende vine og årgange i forbindelse med RETRO kampagnen. Deres Gattinara er lavet på 100% nebbiolo.

The 2015 Gattinara Riserva San Francesco is superb. A wine of energy and pure power, the 2015 possesses magnificent depth that only grows over time. The flavors lean towards to the darker end of the spectrum, with layers of spice, orange zest, menthol and licorice woven into a core of black cherry/plum fruit. The 2015 is an intense wine, and yet it boasts quite a bit of detail as well. Time in the glass brings out its more refined qualities, while the long finish is a thing of beauty. 2025 - 2040

This is a stellar set of new releases. Readers will note that all of the wines are now officially Riservas, a designation the wines have been entitled to for some time. The Riserva and Riserva Osso San Grato are aged in cask, while the Riserva Le Castelle and Riserva San Francesco show just a bit of French oak from smaller barrels used for the first portion of aging. As is often the case, the entry-level Nebbiolo Coste della Sesia Juvenia offers terrific quality and value.
