The 2022 Pietranera, a zesty blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Franc, opens with a darkly alluring blend of dried flowers and citrus-tinged wild berries. Silky-smooth, it washes across the palate with a fresh mélange of herbaceous red and blue berries guided by vibrant acidity. This leaves a staining of blackberry and hints of orange, finishing fresh with unexpected length. The Pietranera is the real value score of the Piaggia portfolio.
