Robert Moncuit's NV Extra Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is 100% stainless steel fermented Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Mesnil-sur-Oger that comes along as a blend of all the vintages from 2006, in this case up to 2011, and with a 50% base of 2010. Disgorged in May 2014 with a dosage of three grams per liter, the Extra Brut is very clear and bright but also rich and intense on the nose, and gives a precise expression of the chalky soils of Mesnil -- not only on the nose but also in the mouth. Complex and fresh, very chalky and characterful in its grip and elegance, this firmly structured wine reveals a long and lemon-fresh finish. This is an excellent Champagne that could go for ten years or more.
